She received her B.A. in Psychology from Spelman College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University.

She is an elected-Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race, and the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
