Baruch Fischhoff Awarded Carnegie Fellowship
APS Fellow Baruch Fischhoff has won a 2018 Andrew Carnegie Fellowship and will receive $200,000 that he will use for research, writing, and publishing.
Fischhoff is among 31 scholars and writers who have been awarded the 2018 fellowships, which the Carnegie Corporation of New York awards as part of its philanthropic investment in the humanities and social sciences. The 2018 awards total $6.2 million.
Fischhoff, the Howard Heinz University Professor in Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Engineering and Public Policy and Institute for Politics and Strategy, is recognized globally for his research on decision-making and risk analysis. He will devote his fellowship to the production of a book that draws together his experiences studying individuals and institutions facing difficult decisions in a variety of settings.
Fischhoff is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences.
